Search for Missing Hunter Devon Dobek Suspended After Seven Days
Authorities say active operations will resume if new information emerges
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has suspended the active search and rescue operation for 51-year-old Devon Dobek of Hubbard, who went missing in the Mount Hood National Forest on October 31, 2025.
After a full week of continuous search efforts, officials announced Friday, November 7, that large-scale operations will be paused pending any new leads or discoveries.
Over the course of the seven-day search, volunteers contributed more than 4,000 personnel hours combing rugged terrain southeast of Estacada near the Fish Creek Trailhead, where Dobek’s truck was located. The area has little to no cell service and includes steep slopes and wildfire-damaged forests from 2020.
Search operations involved technical ground teams, helicopters, airplanes, drones with thermal imaging, K9 units, ATVs, and cell phone tracking specialists. Despite extensive efforts and challenging weather conditions, no further evidence of Dobek’s whereabouts was found.
The Sheriff’s Office extended gratitude to more than a dozen partner agencies and volunteer organizations that joined the mission, including:
