Oregon Sportswear Giant Announces New Leadership
Columbia Sportswear appoints two co-presidents as part of its long-term succession strategy.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Columbia Sportswear Company has announced a major step forward in its succession planning, appointing two longtime executives as co-presidents of the company. The leadership changes, effective November 12, 2025, position the Oregon-based apparel giant for its next phase of growth.
The Board of Directors appointed Peter J. Bragdon as President of the Company, overseeing all international businesses along with the Mountain Hardwear, prAna, and SOREL brands. He will also maintain executive oversight of key administrative and distributor sales functions.
Joseph P. Boyle has been appointed President, Columbia Brand, continuing his leadership of the Columbia brand globally and solidifying his recent role overseeing the North America business, which was consolidated under him earlier in 2025.
Both leaders will report to Timothy P. Boyle, who will continue serving as Chairman and CEO.
In a statement, Timothy Boyle said the leadership transition reflects both the company’s global momentum and its long-term commitment to strategic growth.
“I have spent most of my life growing the Company and its several brands,” he said.
“As the Company returns to growth, new opportunities will be developed, and enthusiastic leadership will be in place to take the Company to the next level.”
Boyle praised both executives:
Bragdon, with Columbia since 1999, has played a key strategic role in shaping growth opportunities and elevating the brand in 74 international markets.
Joe Boyle has led the Columbia brand’s “Project Accelerate” strategy and will continue guiding the company’s momentum in the U.S. marketplace.
To support Bragdon’s transition, the Board also named Richelle T. Luther as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, and Jana C. Humble as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
Columbia Sportswear Company, founded in 1938, has grown into a global outdoor apparel leader with brands sold in approximately 110 countries. The company’s portfolio includes Columbia®, Mountain Hardwear®, SOREL®, and prAna®.
