Change Rooted in the Land

The 90-year-old Pacific Crest FCU rebrands as Sage Credit Union, marking its next chapter of service across Oregon and Nevada.

Klamath Falls, OR — Pacific Crest Federal Credit Union has announced it will change its name to Sage Credit Union effective January 1, 2026, marking a new era for the nearly 90-year-old financial cooperative that has long served communities across the rural West.

The rebrand follows the National Credit Union Administration’s (NCUA) approval of an expanded charter that extends membership into Eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada. Beginning next year, the credit union will open membership to residents of Harney, Malheur, Humboldt, Pershing, Lander, and Eureka counties, in addition to its current Oregon and California service areas.

“This is more than a name change – it’s a reflection of who we are and who we serve,” said Chad Olney, CEO of Pacific Crest FCU. “Our region is defined by its grit, resilience, and a special kind of wisdom. The new name, Sage Credit Union, honors the people and the land that bind our communities together.”

A Legacy Built on Growth

Founded in 1936 as 4L Credit Union, the cooperative first served members of the Loyal Legion of Loggers and Lumbermen in Klamath Falls. Over the decades, the organization evolved through several name changes — from Weyerhaeuser Credit Union to Forest Products Credit Union, and eventually Pacific Crest FCU — each rebrand aligning with a new chapter of growth.

Now, as it prepares to welcome members from six new counties, the institution continues that tradition of expanding alongside the communities it serves.

What’s Changing and What’s Not

Beginning January 1, 2026, the credit union will adopt new branding, a new website (sagecu.org), and updated signage.

Changing:

  • Name: Sage Credit Union

  • Website: sagecu.org

  • Logo and brand visuals

Not Changing:

  • Accounts, loans, usernames, passwords

  • Debit and credit cards

  • Branch locations and staff

“This is not a merger or sale,” Olney emphasized. “It’s the same team, the same branches, and the same commitment to community that has guided us since 1936 — just with a name that better reflects our shared future.”

Rooted in Community

Nearly 90 years ago, ten families in Klamath Falls petitioned Congress to form a credit union that would help neighbors save and lend to one another. Today, Pacific Crest — soon to be Sage Credit Union — serves more than 25,000 members, with a mission that remains unchanged: to deliver financial solutions designed for rural communities.
