I-5 Traffic Stop in Linn County Leads to Major Fentanyl Seizure
Oregon State Police K-9 team discovers hidden compartment containing drugs, firearm, and cash.
A routine traffic stop along Interstate 5 in Linn County led to a significant drug bust late last week, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP).
On October 30, 2025, around 12:30 p.m., an OSP K-9 trooper pulled over a passenger vehicle for a traffic violation near milepost 216. During the stop, the trooper noticed signs of possible criminal activity and deployed K-9 Millie, a trained narcotics detection dog, to inspect the exterior of the vehicle.
Millie alerted to the presence of controlled substances, and after the driver consented to a search, troopers discovered a hidden compartment inside the vehicle. The search uncovered two kilograms of fentanyl powder, a handgun, and a large sum of U.S. currency.
OSP arrested Oscar Joset Bonilla Sandoval (24) of San Francisco, California; Jorge Adalberto Escoto Andrade (34); and Jonathan David Matamoros Carcamo (22). All three were taken into custody and charged with drug-related offenses. The case has been referred to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for further investigation.
OSP noted that K-9 Millie—the dog who made the discovery—was named in honor of Millie Melton, a young Oregon girl who passed away unexpectedly. Her twin sister, Violet, selected the name through OSP’s “Name Our K-9” contest last year, creating a heartfelt legacy that continues through Millie’s work.
“The contributions of K-9 Millie serve as an ongoing remembrance of Millie Melton,” OSP said in its statement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
